National Poetry and JazzMonth ~ April
Heyllo Everyone and Anyone! I absolutely love jazz and poetry and think every single one of you should really open your hearts to these wonderfuls outlets of expression and emotion! Try and write a poem everyday or maybe listen to some Coltrane or Hancock everyday. It makes my day brighter year round.
Also, really appreciate Jazz and Poetry. The roots of both now trace to modern pop and rap. Langston Hughes, Bob Kaufman, Charles Mingus, Miles Davis, all have some influence on the music that 90% of world listens to. Just saying, a little tid-bit you might appreaciate! Much love ya’ll. <3

A Certain Problem
If only I could explain this weird situation to people…
I really can’t though so I thought I’d blog about it here. For sake of names I’ll use the initials E.N. Now, my history with this person goes way back…. like all the way to freshmen year back. You ever heard the definition of fake? Well it has massive boobs and a bob of frizzy hair if you look in my dictionary. All she did freshmen year was invade my personal space, yell about the randomest things, and play the flirt-whore with my boyfriend of the time. Don’t get me wrong, all he did was feel her up, but E.N. is the walking definition of rapist.
Long story short, two days before my birthday, not only do I find out Julian is messing around with flirt whore E.N. but is also just too busy for me. So we break up, I don’t remember the details and I don’t remember who broke up with who, but I’m pretty sure I broke up with him because I brought it up. He goes on as if nothing happened, and I felt the most alone I’d ever felt in a long time. Life was a washing machine ready to be set on tumble dry… tumble dry all the fricking tear-stained pillow covers. Hot damn, I’d never thought I’d EVER cry that much.
A whirlwind of summer change swoops me from behind and before you know it, I’m blonde, I’m back-boned, and I’m feeling like the better person. You wanna know why? At least in my relationship with the boyfriend, I didn’t pressure him to be someone he wasn’t. I didnt try to force someone to love me. I’m not a pussy but I’m not a fucking bitch either. ANyways, I hear things aren’t going too well between E.N. and my ex(who I’m still talking with all this time.) I got closer to my ex again after spending some quality theatre time with him, and before you know it, we’re back to some old flirty tendancies. He invites me to his party, and who am I to refuse a party? I go, and enjoy myself on all the highs of life, and right as we’re about to do it in his bed, I ask “What about E.N.?”
He says something like he totally forgot about it, and then the next thing that comes out of his mouth is that she doesn’t have to find out. Now right at this moment I’m like, damn, this is a great way to get back at that bitch who sure pulled the wool over my eyes but instead of just seizing the baton, I leave it at “Live in the Moment” and fondling touches that eventually mean more.
He’s where I went wrong….

I say music everywhere and for all; that our destruction of others isn’t inevitable, that the flaws are just cover-ups for the action trying to solve the problems; that for every life and for every moment you have, you can make a difference in someone’s life; that to live for yourself is too selfish; that to live for someone else is ignorant.

And as an update for what I’ve been up to, I’m in a Jazz Band with Rachel and Ben, we’re called Of Nada. Who knows where we’ll go, but hopefully we’ll go somewhere. I really love playing music, and I really want to learn and grow with these guys. We dont have an official drummer or pianist or saxist, you if you know anyone interested, send them our way. I’ll probably go make a facebook page for us sometime soon. Hopefully we’ll make it somewhere. For the talent show I want to perform an original song and I really want to make jazz awesome. We’ll do it, and it’ll be awesome. I believe in us. Right guys, sex, drugs, and jazz.
As for other things, I recently visited cow town Davis. With such a huge campus they couldn’t have made their shower an extra foot wider? I guess not, but that besides the point that it’s nearly fricking impossible to get anywhere in Davis without a bike. My leg is still kind of aching after that day of longboarding everywhere. Of course the highlight of that Saturday was seeing my goofball of a boyfriend Julian. He’s great, he’s crazy, but still all the same, I love him like hell. (Not that I’d ever tell Emily that.) Maybe one day that funky grudge between us will settle, but until then, these vibes aren’t so bad.
This week is so crazy, I’ve got an orchestra concert tuesday, a performance on Wednesday, a band concert on Thursday and finally a break on Friday… I think.. and don’t get me wrong, I’m not going to see all these concerts, I’m playing in every single one of them. The life of a musician is a busy one, but me… well I could be a lot more productive, I mean look at me, I’m on tumblr talking about my life. It’s about as nonproductive as it gets. But who knows, maybe its not that bad, maybe there’s some light at the end of the tunnel for all of this…

GO SEE THE LOWELL BAND CONCERT NOVEMBER 10th! We’re playing Marriage of Figaro, Carmina Burana, They Can’t Take That Away From Me, Dat Dere, and Mack the Knife and tons of other fun songs! It’s going to be a great concert, definitely worth seeing!
